If you have an eating disorder, it is very difficult to get better on your own. As well as having support from those who care for you, you need to have professional help. Eating disorders can make you very physically ill as well as affecting your thoughts and feelings about yourself.
Sometimes, people think they don't deserve help; that they should be able to manage on their own. No-one should be alone with their eating disorder, seeking help from professionals is a great first step in beating an eating disorder.
The good news is there is plenty of help available for both the sufferers of an eating disorder and their families. There are support groups, which provide a safe environment for people who have an eating disorder to share their story and get support from others. There are also professional counsellors and medical doctors who can diagnose, treat and provide ongoing support.
