What can be done?

 

  1. Be in regular contact with your GP and assess your current health condition in terms of blood pressure, heart rate, breathing etc.

  2. Determine if you are overweight is due to medical reasons. Is it hormonal, glandular

  3. Work closely with your GP to create a plan for you to exercise more and eat healthy foods.

  4. Join a healthy eating group. Support is essential in this task.

  5. Keep a food diary. Figure out what you’re eating everyday and why? Are you responding to an emotional upset? Know why you overeat and know your triggers.

  6. Follow a healthy eating plan.

  7. Do NOT get tempted by a quick fix fad diet.

  8. Cut out processed and junk foods.

  9. Get at least 30-40 minutes exercise everyday.

  10. Encourage children to walk to school, even half way. You can walk with them

  11. Rally with the school to allow only healthy foods in lunch boxes.

  12. Educate children about health and exercise.

  13. Know that you are in control of your health. Empower yourself by taking charge!
